The Technology Generation
Today I read a section of the book, The Dumbest Generation, by Mark Bauerlein and it really amazed me that this is really what people think about teens and children today. I cannot speak for other teens, but how Mark described our daily lives is nothing like the life that I live. He believes that teens today just go on the internet play games, talk to their friends, and do no exploring of new things at all. He made us seem like we are too scared to go outside of their comforts and see what else is out there in the world. I know that every time that I go on the internet I go onto news cites and new things just to see what is out there, its not like I shun what is not familiar, or necessarily fun. Also we don't just sit around and listen to whatever music is popular, if you were to look at my ipod you would see music from rap to classical to sixties music. I also am part of different groups that aren't what any of my close friends take part in, extracurricular activities were very strong and not lacking of young people where I grew up. In my findings, by having friends and socializing with other people, I know that what I do isn't that different from what others do in their spare time. So maybe we aren't just a generation that focuses on fun and entertainment, we have the drive to go out and learn new things or try new things. I will agree that some teens do just play video games and such, but it should definately not become a stereotype for our generation, since to me it doesn't seem fitting to the majority.

Technology takes over!!!
Its so amazing that just 4 years ago jobs that we now have didn't exist in the world at all. That means that in 4 years we were able to develop and look over that many new technologies. Its also amazing that ecveryone is terrified, and relies on America when we aren't by far the smartest and most developed country in the world. Would we maybe be better off taking adice from countries like India, whose future population will be far smarter than our own?
In my opinion in the world today we aren't worrying about the right things. We need to start putting more money and time into the future population. The students now are forced to be preparing themselves for a job that may not exist yet. This means that the educators themselves really don't have any idea what to teach and what will actually be relevant in the next 10 years.
I wonder if there will ever be an end point. When will we have created the most up to date technology, will cellphones soon be a complete replacement for computers?
If we were able to discover and invent so much new technology in such a short time, will it continue to grow at this speed
Pretty soon the technologies that are created will surpass what the average human will be able to learn.
This is very scary!
