Scholar Athlete
Today in FYS class, I read an article about people who are athletes, but are also able to have a higher education. I think that this should be the normal, and not the strange. For students who are getting money to play in college it is their responsibility to be able to participate in the sport and do well in school. This is good because sports are not everything, they are there only when you are of age and capability. I think that a higher education should be required for athletes, this promotes the idea that people can be an athlete and also be a student, and eventually a professional of another sort. I think that education is important for the future of our world, and if professional athletes are a large part of our world they should take part in education. Without education we would not be very far in the world today as far as technology and our knowledge, so for athletes to use their sport as an excuse to slack in education is not helping anyone. I think that a scholar athlete is what every athlete should try and be.

Facebook....good or bad???
Well I think that I have had facebook for about four to five years now and love most everything about it. Now that I am in college I have found out just how much I love it. The main thing I like about it is that it allows me to stay in contact with my friends from home, which is very important to me since upon arrival to college I was all alone. There are a few ways it keeps me in contact with my friends, some that are new, and others that have been there all along. For example, I can put up pitures, write on walls, and send private messages. These are all things that have been here all along that I love because my friends and I are able to see what the others are really up to. Another tool that I love to use, that is new, is instant chatting. Although these things are good, there are still things I dislike about facebook. Over time there has been an increase in applications, which you then have to invite your friends to join, this really annoys me. Another thing I dislike is that I can spend up to three hours on facebook at a given time, being in school this is kind of distracting, but a very nice break at times. All in all I think that facebook is a very good thing, and we should able to continue to use it.

Serving Others
This is what my life will pretty much always consist of. At the moment I am a waitress at country club, which really is not all its cracked up to be. See I am forced to be extra nice to these people no matter what they say to me. I have to serve things from different sides of the person, depending on what it happens to be(food, drinks, salad). That does not sound too bad, but when tipping is optional it gets pretty bad. The only cool part about serving people food is that I get to learn how to make alcoholic drinks, and mess around in the kitchen. But in the end I think this job is really going to help me with my career later in life. I am striving to be a nurse, and eventually maybe a little more. This involves doing what the patient wants done and doing it with a good attitude. The upside to this though is knowing that you are actually helping people and forming bonds with these people, a little more rewarding than learning how to make alcoholic beverages.
